Learning Outcomes and Application This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to identify, evaluate and control threats to the integrity of transmission pipelines. It includes using relevant tools, equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE), and interpreting technical drawings and plans in accordance with workplace procedures, industry standards, guidelines, codes of practice and regulations. No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.
Duration and Setting X weeks, nominally xx hours, delivered in a classroom/online/blended learning setting.

Element: Plan to identify and evaluate control threats to a transmission pipeline
  • Work schedules and relevant drawings, plans, materials and equipment are examined to determine the extent of required work preparation in accordance with workplace procedures
       
Element: Work is prioritised and sequenced for completion within acceptable timeframes following consultation with relevant person/s and authorities in accordance with workplace procedures
       
Element: Hazards are identified, work health and safety (WHS)/occupational health and safety (OHS) risks are assessed and control measures prioritised, implemented and monitored in accordance with workplace procedures
       
Element: Job requirements and workplace procedures for the work are obtained for all work sites and communicated to relevant person/s in accordance with workplace procedures

Element: Fault-finding and troubleshooting techniques are applied to identify any repairs or maintenance required in accordance with job requirements and workplace procedures
       
Element: Work is undertaken to ensure completion in agreed timeframe and to industry standards with a minimum of waste in accordance with job requirements and workplace procedures
       
Element: Unplanned events and non-routine problems are identified and actioned in accordance with requirements and workplace procedures
